1. Who we are

Rafiq (rafiq-arabic.com) is an app for learning Arabic, run by a business called Rafiq, based in Leicester, United Kingdom. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Rafiq. How we handle your data is in our privacy policy. You can reach us at support@rafiq-arabic.com.

2. Your account

3. The free week

Every new account gets 7 days of Rafiq Complete for free, starting when you create it. We don’t ask for a card, so nothing is charged when it ends. After the free week, lessons ask you to choose a plan. Your progress, your words and your Home page stay where they are, whether or not you choose one. Each person gets one free week.

4. Plans and payment

5. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time in Settings → Your plan, and we’ll email you to confirm. If you cancel during your free week, you’re never charged. Otherwise, unless you’re refunded (see below), you keep your plan until the end of the month or year you’ve paid for, and nothing more is charged; you can change your mind and resume before then. If you delete your account, any plan is cancelled straight away.

6. Refunds

If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, or of a yearly renewal, that payment is refunded in full, automatically, and your plan ends then. The automatic refund applies once per account. You don’t have to give a reason. Refunds usually reach your account within 5–10 working days. Monthly payments after the first aren’t refunded, but you can cancel any time so the next one isn’t taken. This is on top of your rights under UK consumer law, which still apply. For example, you’re entitled to a fix or a refund if Rafiq doesn’t work as described.

7. Using Rafiq fairly

Rafiq is for your own learning. Please don’t:

If someone seriously or repeatedly breaks these rules, we may suspend or close their account. We’ll tell you why, unless the law stops us.

8. Our content

The lessons, audio, pictures and design of Rafiq belong to us or to the people who license them to us. Verses of the Qur’an and their translations come from the sources named in the app.

We work hard to get the Arabic and its meanings right, and a teacher checks it. Rafiq teaches language. It isn’t a source of religious rulings, so for questions about how to pray or other matters of fiqh, please ask a qualified scholar. If you spot a mistake, tap ⚑ on the question or tell us, and we’ll fix it.

9. Changes to Rafiq

We keep improving Rafiq, so features will change. If we remove something important from a plan you’ve paid for, we’ll tell you first, and you can cancel and have the unused part of your payment refunded. If we ever close Rafiq, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice and refund the unused part of any plan.

10. If something goes wrong

11. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you have a problem, please email us first. Most things can be sorted out quickly.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects you in a big way, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before it happens. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect.
